‘Party to announce candidates for remaining seats shortly’ | Nirmal Singh likely to contest from Billawar | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 5: The head of the state election campaign committee Prof Nirmal Singh is all set to contest the Billawar Assembly seat from Kathua district. With this the speculations going on over the name of the party nominee from Gandhi Nagar Assembly seat is going to be over soon. Though formal announcement is yet to be made by the party high command but according to highly placed sources the name of Prof Nirmal Singh was formally cleared by the members of the central election committee during informal discussions at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday. The party on Wednesday also initiated informal discussions to finalise the names of the candidates from left over seats in the state. According to party sources the names of rest of the candidates would now be cleared by the Party President Amit Shah on the recommendations of the central election committee. The arrangement was necessitated in the wake of 10 day long foreign trip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming days. Meanwhile, General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Madhav is also arriving in Jammu on Friday to hold close door meeting with senior functionaries of the state BJP unit to finalise the campaign strategy of the party. According to BJP sources the party high command had already initiated discussions on the names of party nominees for left over seats and the same are likely to be announced by the party president after evolving a consensus among the members of the election committee. |
