NC engages RSS in back channel parleys eyeing post poll alliance with BJP
11/5/2014 11:56:14 PM
ET Report
Jammu, Nov 5: National Conference has reportedly approached RSS leadership for possible post poll alliance. According to sources a key trustee of the Chief Minister is holding back channel deliberations with the Sangh leadership. The key trustee has been using the service of his close relative in this regard.
According to sources, NC is trying to convince the Sangh leadership that it is the only party which can 'safe-guard' the interests of the India in the Kashmir. The party leadership is trying to 'sell' the theory that PDP can't be trusted by the BJP as it has never ever openly criticized the Pakistan and has been doing soft peddling on the terrorism and separatism.
It's is also trying to convince the Sangh leadership that the PDP can't be trusted ally especially with the mainstream nationalistic parties as in the past it has duped Azad Government. Azad had openly criticized the terrorists and was nationalist to the core.
"Sangh till now has not given any word on it. It is just watching the developments," said a senior leader. The fact is that NC started building relations with the Sangh to get close to the BJP even before Parliamentary elections results were announced as it had become clear that Modi will form the Government,.
It had send many people who worked as its emissaries. "Sangh knew the credentials of these people. They have been changing colours. They had their way when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. But Modi is a different game altogether," said a senior leader.
Both Omar and Farooq Abdullah had worked with the BJP in the past. Since, Farooq is not well, Omar is now using his experience of working in the Delhi, to secure a deal with the BJP through Sangh.
"Sangh works for the welfare of the people and keeps Indian sovereignty non-negotiable. Omar's tenure speaks of his dedication. So it is very unlikely that Sangh can trust Omar, who had even questioned Accession for political gains," said the leader.
