Experts' meet of CSTT concludes at GDC Udhampur

Udhmapur, Nov 5: The five-day Experts' Meet for preparing the glossary of scientific and technical terms of Botany in Dogri being held at Government Degree College Udhampur concluded today.
According to press release Organised by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in collaboration with Department of Botany of the host College, this meet was attended by experts from various fields of Botany and Languages.
These includeO P Sharma Vidyarthi CCF, Prof. B R Bamniya, HoD Environmental Sciences Udaipur University, Dr Yash Pal Sharma, Professor of Botany from Jammu University, Dr. Raman Kesar, Botanist and Chief Executive Officer PDA, Prakash Premi, a renowned linguist and Dogri expert, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, HoD Botany of the host college, Prof. Sudhir Singh Sham Lal Agnihotri.
A host of deliberations were held in the meeting over five days to understand the technical terms of Botany, finding the Dogri equivalent and coinage of fresh words, if needed, to enrich the corpus of existing vocabulary. 300 technical terms were taken up and translated/coined in Dogri.
Dr. Dharmender Kumar Deputy Director CSTT expressed his gratitude to all the experts for active participation in the meeting and its successful conclusion. He also expressed his gratitude to the College for providing all the logistic support for the meeting. "It has been a great experience to organize programme here and I hope that in future also the same magnitude of support is provided by all the experts and this organization," he added.
Principal of the College Prof. S.S Bhalwal said that this College is committed to provide a platform for deliberations on such crucial endeavors.
"It is a rare opportunity when intellectuals in this number sit together to contribute towards Dogri language," he added.
