Army vehicle damaged in IED blast at Mendhar | | | Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Nov 29: An army vehicle was today damaged badly in a powerful IED blast near the Line of Control (LoC) at NageTekri in Krishna Ghati area here but the jawans who were travelling in it had a miraculous escape. An army vehicle was on its way to a forward post at NageTekri but when it was between 422 and 489 posts, an IED exploded at about 10.45 am, damaging it badly. The jawans who were travelling in it survived unhurt, according to official sources. The IED was believed to have been triggered with the help of a remote control device by militants from across the LoC. The militants might have planted this IED late last night or in the wee hours of this morning and exfiltrated without being seen by the border troops, the sources added. Sources said militants wanted to step up their activities across the Poonch district in view of the elections that were slated for December 2. A round the clock vigil was being maintained all along the LoC to foil any infiltration bid from across the LoC, the sources added. |
