Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 29: BJP national general secretary and former RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav has claimed that the BJP would get majority in the assembly elections and form government in J&K. Earlier, he had advised BJP leaders in Kashmir not to rake up any political issue and focus only on issues of development and governance. He forgot that BJP was a political party and elections in J&K this time were very important.
Madhav undermined his own claim when he said the same day that BJP has its "friends" in Kashmir whose support the party would enlist in case it didn't get majority in the assembly. Who are the BJP's friends in Kashmir? They are Sajad Lone, Hakim Yaseen, Engineer Rashid and some other Kashmiris, whose credentials are doubtful. They are known for their anti-India views.
Madhav has met these controversial Kashmiris to enlist their support. Earlier, JP Nadda, now Health Minister in the Modi government, had also met Sajad Lone. There were many reports which referred to these meetings. Hakim Yaseen and Engineer Rashid, who enacted many anti-India acts in and outside the assembly, admitted that they had meet Madhav. Besides, Sajad Lone personally met Modi at his official residence and after his meeting him, he praised Modi's leadership.
They are BJP's friends in Kashmir. The party, it seems, is taking the people of Jammu and Ladakh for granted without realizing the serious consequences of what it is doing to grab power in the state. What it is doing for capturing power in the state has shocked the people of Jammu and Ladakh. They have started saying that the "BJP is not dependable" and that "it may implement the dangerous Vajpayee line on J&K".
The activities of the central BJP leadership in J&K will damage the electoral chances of many party candidates. Bookies have already seen a hung assembly and overruled the possibility of BJP even winning 25 seats. A report in this regard has said: "The odds of the BJP winning 25 seats in the J&K Assembly are 0.58:1 - that means, bookies are willing to pay 58 paise for each rupee bet on the BJP winning 25 seats."
Two members from separate betting syndicates in Delhi said they would pay 70 paise on accurate bets of the party winning 20 seats and Rs 1.10 if it gets 30 seats. If the bet is for 35 berths in the 87-member assembly and that turns out to be the outcome, one rupee will earn 2.25 for those who predicted it accurately. As the returns increase, the chances of winning reduce". 14 poll employees untraceable at Kishtwar.
