PCP for BCom, Workshop on NSS postponed without prior notice

JAMMU, Nov 29: Unaware about postponement of scheduled programmes which were to be conducted today over three hundred students from various districts of Jammu division visited the Jammu University campus and showed displeasure over mismanagement of Directorate of Distance Education.
Sources told Early Times that two programmes of different departments scheduled to be held today were postponed without any prior notice to students.
"Two days workshop by NSS was to be commenced today at DDE. To participate in the workshop around 150 students were gathered in DDE block as per time table. But the students were angry after knowing that the workshop has been postponed and is to be held on December 9 and 10", said insider seeking anonymity, adding that it was responsibility of the concerned coordinator to inform the participants about the postponement of the event.
They further said that similarly around 450 student of B. Com who arrived here for PCP (Personal Contact Programme) were disappointed, when they came to know about postponement of the programme.
"18 days long Personal Contact Progamme (PCP) for B. Com first, second and third year was to be commenced today but due to unknown reasons the event has postponed this morning by the coordinator of the programme", they informed, adding that around 400 students were enrolled in B.Com first, second and final years with DDE.
"Most of students enrolled in their respective classes in B.Com have arrived here about 10 a.m. but they too were disappointed since there was no information about the postponement of the programme, a day before it was scheduled", they added.
"Students from Ramnagar, Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Akhnoor, Jammu, RS Pura, Samba, Kathua Hirangar and other parts of Jammu region, who are pursuing their Bachelors Degree in Commerce from DDE arrived for PCP have left empty hands for their respective places by this noon", said an lecturer, adding that it was duty of DDE and concerned coordinators to inform the students if there was any changing in schedule of proposed programme.
