Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Nov 29 : Even after five days of the completion of polling process in Kishtwar district, at least 14 employees posted in remote area of Marwah here have yet to reach their homes and are untraceable. Air Force officials were assigned the job of air lifting polling employees from 45 stations of Kishtwar district.
As per the details available with Early Times, the district administration airlifted 368 poll officials to the remote areas of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan prior to the polling of first phase with the promise that all will be again airlifted after the poll process was completed but the administration and the IAF have failed to airlift 14 employees from these areas, mostly Polling Booth (PO1), who are now untraceable.
While confirming the missing of 14 employees engaged by the administration for polling duty, President of Masters/Teachers Association Kishtwar Mehboob Qazi said that despite repeated requests to the administration to airlift these 14 left out employees, both administration as well as IAF had failed to airlift them.
Qazi alleged that after the concerned agencies refused to airlift them, they left the area on foot. No contact had been established with them as the area is snow bound and had also no road connectivity, he added. He said that under normal circumstances, "it takes two days to reach Marwah by foot but even after three days, the 14 employees have not reached homea".
He said that the family members of the missing employees and the association members were concerned about their safety and security. He urged upon the election authorities to expedite their efforts to trace these untraceable employees.
He threatened to launch an agitation if the employees remained untraced. "We will boycott the further election process including counting," he said. He said that the association will also lodge a complaint with Election Commission of India. He also urged upon the administration to revoke the suspension of all the employees who were suspended by the administration for their failure in reporting for election duty due to different reasons. Meanwhile, IAF today airlifted two unidentified girls and allegedly avoided the poll official at Nawapachi, Marwah.
