Massive polling mars BJP chances | | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 29: The first phase of polling which witnesses 72% polling in Jammu and Kashmir state has diminished the chances of accomplishing BJP mission 44 and particularly in the valley, where party was heavily banking on migrant voters in case of election boycott. The separatists and their sympathizers have so far failed to have any effect on the election campaigning in first phase of polling particularly in Kashmir valley. Some political pundits hint at a tactical understanding between separatist leadership and some mainstream political parties to defeat BJP. In a recent statement, Omar Abdullah appealed to Geelani to reconsider the boycott. The fear of BJP coming to power in state also forced many people to come out to participate in elections. Some people say that it may be more than 72% in second phase of polling which is due on 2 December. The Congress, National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Panthers have intensified their campaign in different parts of state. BJP is wholly solely depending on Modi may give them a breather, otherwise there is not a single local leader who can do miracle. Some people say that rebel candidates may also spoil the chances of parties mission 44 and are leaving no stone unturned to get official candidates defeated like Jagdish Sapolia in Basohli, Lal Chand, and many more. But the main worry for bjp is the high percentage of polling that too from Kashmir valley. They were eyeing on Habbakadal, Amirakadal, Khanyar, Sopore, Tral, Pamporeetc but due to failure of election boycott call of separatists, the migrant votes will have no impact on the results, said by one senior journalist. So it is to be seen that who will come out with a win and it is only a matter of time. |
