Indian forces asked to make effective monitoring movement of militants across LOC, IB | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 29 : Following determined bid by a group of militants to infiltrate into Jammu region from across Arnia sector top authorities in Army and BSF have been asked to move additional companies of forces on the LOC and on the IB to prevent any fresh ingress bids. Official sources said that troops and the BSP authorities have been told to upgrade surveillance with the help of gadgets that have been installed on the border for monitoring movement of militants across the LOC and the IB. Sources said that forces have been told to improve mobility of troops so that any eventuality could be tackled within the shortest possible time. These instructions have been issued after intelligence inputs have revealed that over 300 militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons, have been waiting on the launch pads across the border for sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir. These inputs have indicated that though Pakistani forces have concentrated on the IB for pushing groups of militants into Jammu region but there was need for upgrading the anti-ingress mechanism on the LOC too. These reports said that attempts were being made to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir for raising the level of violence for the purpose of disrupting the poll process. Both ministry of Defence and the Union Home Ministry are said to have appreciated the timely steps having been taken by the Indian forces for eliminating four militants on this side of Arnia sector. However, forces have been told to initiate measures which will not allow militants to cross into the Indian territory and seek shelter in the bunkers. Experts said that had the forces been able to check the ingress of militants right on the zero line neither the three jawans nor five civilians would have been killed. In addition to this troops, guarding the LOC, and the BSF, deployed on the IB, have been directed to retaliate with force and fury each every ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops. |
