Demonstration at GMCH, protestors want cops to be booked for murder

JAMM, Nov 29 : Four traffic police personnel, including a DTI, whose alleged act of forcibly stopping a motorcyclist near Bhagwati Nagar here had led to the death of a youth and injuries to another, have been booked under section 304 RPC at police station, Nowabad. The arrest was made effective after a demonstration was held in the premises of GMCH against the alleged role of police to shield the alleged accused Inspector Raguveer Singh (DTI) and constables namely Mushtaq Ahmed, Parminder Singh and GirdhariLal. To pacify the protestors, senior police officers rushed to GMC H and apprised them that the cops have been booked under section 304 RPC. Angered protesters demanded that the accused be booked under section 302 of RPC. Pertinently, Siddharth Mattoo and Deepak Mattoo were travelling towards Bhagwati Nagar on the fourth bridge on their motorcycle when a traffic cop tried to forcibly stop them and in the process allegedly hit the handle of the bike with a stick. The youth who was driving the motorcycle had lost control over the two-wheeler as a result of which it had hit the police vehicle that was parked there. Sidd-harth was killed on the spot while Deepak was admitted to hospital with injuries. The incident sparked off protest in the area. People had blocked the fourth bridge and held demonstration against police. Taking cognizance of the matter, SSP, traffic, Jammu, Mohan Lal had placed the four traffic cops under suspension.The condition of the injured was stated to be critical at GMCH.
