BJP to go slow on campaigning | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 29: A section of the State BJP leadership has decided to go slow on campaigning after the vision document was released. The leadership according to the sources have openly complained that the document has not only belittled the Jammu region but has given big blow to the chances of the party in the elections. "What is there in the document with which we can approach the people? We have all along telling the people that if the party comes to power, Jammu will be given priority. But in the document we have gone even below the PDP's vision of Jammu as we are giving priority to Kashmir," said a senior BJP leader. The document on being released has caused serious rift within the party. Many old timers, who have been associated with the party since Jan Sangh, says it has now been hijacked by new entrants who are not only opportunists but are deliberately selecting the party's agenda to appease the Kashmir centric leadership for their personal gains. "Some of the officials who have joined the BJP have dubious track records. There are strong allegations of the land-grabbing and other shady things. These leaders now are taking prominent positions in the party and to save their interests are playing this game by sending the party's core stand to dustbin," said the leader. Allegations have been levelled against a senior central BJP leader handing Kashmir division of the party. Senior leaders of the State unit say, the supposedly point man of the party in the Kashmir, is doing activities which are against the interest of the parties and is sending ill-informed and manipulated reports to the party leadership . "BJP has been manipulated to the extent that even its hard core supported are feeling betrayed and its critics are having a last laugh. The mainpulators have always exploited the sentiments of the Jammu all along but not this extent. Even PM has never said a word about the Jammu. It is likely to cost the party heavily, and this is what the manipulators wanted to do on joining the party," said the BJP leader. |
