Jammu, Dec 9: Deepmala Sharma of Jodhamal Public School (JPS) has been awarded Global Teacher Accreditation Award by British Council in the Award ceremony recently held in Delhi at Hotel Kempinski Ambience. More than 650 Principals, Vice Principals, Practising teachers, Head of the Departments, Coordinators of various schools from different states of the country filled the applications out of which 216 were short listed for the action research. Shortlisted teachers worked on their respective projects for a period of six months and 63 participants were awarded the Global Teacher Award. The Global Teacher Accreditation project aims to provide high quality professional training, accredit classroom-based research, enable teachers to reflect on their everyday practice in order to improve students' learning and provide opportunities for teachers to share their professional learning with other teachers locally and globally. Deepmala worked on the project and her topic of research was "Enhancing student's performance and interest in Social Science through Collaborative Learning". She is the only teacher from J&K to receive this prestigious award. Deepmal was mentored by Seema Jairath of the DPS, DLF, Gurgaon. Principal of the school, Trilok Singh Bist appreciated Deepmala for her commitment and hard work, and thanked the HOD Social Sciences, Bhawna Madaan and Rohini Aima, Principal Jammu Sanskriti School for their cooperation and help, since this project needed involvement of school under the project with a neighbouring school in the rural setup. |
