Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 9: Public Information Officer (PIO) of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Jammu Division is acting like a dictator by failing to deliver information under the Right to Information Act (RTI Act), 2009 for the second time.
The PIO had earlier denied replying some questions asked by this scribe about the process of giving tenders of jute bags/sacs and persons given tenders beginning January 2014 and ending September 2014 giving reasons that this scribe had not written questions in series of numbers. Conceding the so called mistake to be true, this activist further filed an RTI on 31.10.2014 which was received in the receiving section of FCI, Jammu Division, near Bahu Plaza, Jammu on the same day, a copy of which is in possession of Early Times. As per the mandatory rules, the information or any prior intimation of providing the information late should have been communicated within 30 days after the filing of RTI i.e. well before 1.12.2014 but till date i.e. 9 days over the mandatory period, no information or any prior intimation has been received by this scribe though two contact numbers were given on the copy filed on 31.10.2014. When this scribe appeared in the office of PIO, FCI, Jammu division at around 2:30 pm, the PIO was absent from his office. Seeing a woman staff member in this office, this scribe asked about the whereabouts of the PIO but she kept her busy to reply a phone call and didn't bother to reply. Similar was the attitude of this PIO as when he failed to deliver the requisite information or intimation on time to an RTI filed on same subject in the month of September, when he had reacted harshly over his delay to deliver the information and had said he don't care at all to give intimation or information on time.
