Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 9: Overlooking Model Code of Conduct (MCC), enforced in the state in view of the ensuing Assembly elections, the acting Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu has reportedly conducted interview for post of contractual lecturer in Remote Sensing Department.
Well placed sources told Early Times that acting VC, University of Jammu Dr R D Sharma has recently conducted interview for the post of contractual lecturer on December 4.
"University had invited applications for the post in dubious manner in the month of July without mentioning qualification in eligibility for the post of lecturer, following the protest against the advertisement, the then VC Prof MPS Ishar withheld the interview," sources said, adding that the decision was taken overlooking the remarks of former VC.
"For interview by government institution during model code of conduct, permission had to be sought from election authorities, but the same was not done", sources said, adding that fresh notification was also not invited by the authorities.
"Earlier, in the month of June 2014, interviews were scheduled for contractual lecturers in various departments of University including Remote Sensing Department, but due to certain objections raised by section of students, the authority withheld the interview for Remote Sensing department", they claimed.
It pertinent to mention here that since Prof R D Sharma took over the charge of interim Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, he has made number of decisions overlooking the MCC. "Prof Rajnikant who was Rector Ramnagar Campus, was given charge of Director Staff Colleges on November 13. Prof Darasha Sharma former coordinator M.Ed. DDE was instated as coordinator, earlier she was removed from the post following a case of copy, but Dr R D Sharma is modifying earlier orders without approval from Election Department.
However, Registrar University of Jammu, Prof M K Dhar did not respond to repeated phone calls.
