Register FIR against Omar, aides: Congress Haji Yusuf case 12/10/2014 12:20:59 AM 'CM hushed up Shopian double rape, murder case' Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Dec 9: A day after senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori demanded that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his close aides should be prosecuted for their alleged involvement in the murder of the National Conference worker Haji Mohammad Yusuf, Saroori today upped the ante and demanded that FIR should be registered against Omar and his aides immediately. He even alleged that Omar was responsible for hushing up Shopian double rape and murder case in 2009. Addressing his supporters here Saroori said: "Why were Omar and his associates not prosecuted in connection with the murder case of the NC worker Haji Yusuf?" "Omar is also responsible for hushing up the double rape and murder case in Shopian. How can we expect that he would allow registration of FIR in a case where he himself is the main accused," he said. "The statement by Omar Abdullah that he is innocent cannot acquit him from the murder case. He cannot act as a judge for saving his skin. He has to get the clean chit from Supreme Court where the petition filed by the son of the deceased is pending disposal." Saroori said it is an irony that till last week Omar was terming death of Haji Yusuf as natural and now, he himself asserted during an election rally in Uri that he had handed over Yousuf to then IG Crime and he died in police custody. "We strongly believe that Haji Yosuf was murdered. He was tortured to death by Omar Abdullah and his close confidants," Saroori alleged. Saroori appealed Supreme Court to take cognizance of Omar Abdullah's recent statement which made it clear that Haji Yusuf died in custody. "Congress demands immediate registration of FIR into the case so that guilty could be punished without fear or favor," he added. Pertinently, recently the former IG Crime and PDP candidate from north Kashmir's Uri constituency Raja Aijaz Ali had alleged that late Haji Mohammad Yusuf was interrogated at CM's residence in Srinagar for 3-hours in presence of Omar and his close aides, Nasir Aslam Wani, Devender Singh Rana and Shabir Ahmed Personal Security Officer of Omar.
