Jammu, Dec 9: National Service Scheme, University of Jammu in collaboration with Directorate of Distance Education organised a Two day workshop on "Role of NSS in Higher Education" today in the Seminar Hall, New DDE building, University of Jammu. Prof. V.D.Singh, Director, DDE formally inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the need of NSS in the socialization of the younger generation. Prof.Jasbir Singh, Chairman, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu apprised the participants regarding the Role of NSS in Higher Education for their holistic personality development. He exhorted students to take NSS as a way of life. It helps to develop interaction with the community and serve the nation selflessly, he added. Dr Vishav Raksha, Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu was the guest of honour. She also appealed to the students to join NSS in big way as it should be taken up under Swachta Abhiyan. Around 150 distance learners are attending this workshop. Earlier Dr. Anju Thappa, Programme officer NSS, DDE unit formally welcomed the guests and the participants and also informed that the workshop is for the distance learners of P.G.English and Hindi. The inaugural function was conducted by Dr.Vandana Sharma. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Neharica Subhash. The first interactive session was conducted by Prof.Jasbir Singh, Chairman NSS Campus Unit and Dr.Sandhya Bhardwaj from GCW parade was the resource person in the second session. The distance learners were happy to get a chance of training under NSS and to get familiar with the objectives and functioning of NSS. |
