CPFWA holds meeting, discusses problems of veterans | | | Early Times Report
RS Pura, Dec.9: A meeting of the veterans belonging to RS Pura Constituency was held under the chairmanship of General Secretary, Central Paramilitary Force Welfare Association (CPFWA), Darshan Kumar. The meeting was presided by Brig Manjeet Singh, Punjab Convener of the Ex-Servicemen Cell. They also expressed their anger and resentment at the totally unsympathetic attitude towards the veteran community during the last 55 years by the political parties that ruled the state. Brig Manjeet listened patiently to the numerous problems voiced by the veterans. These included poor ECHS facilities, harassment at CSD canteens, non-payment of full pension by certain banks, non-payment of increased pension to reservists, opening of ECHS OPD at RS Pura, land at concessional rate for Sainik Colonies and courteous behaviour with veterans by serving personnel and government officials. Brig Manjeet singh in his address assured the veterans that all issues raised by them would be speedily resolved through interaction with the concerned authorities. He informed that issues like VAT, formation of Sainik Kalyan Board, land for concessional rate for housing colonies, reservation in government jobs have been submitted by him to the Party high command for inclusion in the election manifesto. |
