Anantnag, Dec 9: Peoples Democratic Party Patron, Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed on Thursday promised 'Apple village' status to village if voted to power. He was e addressing a poll rally in Khiram village of Bijbehara assembly segment. Mufti said, "In our tenure we provided you the maximum facilities and augmented horticulture sector of the village by granting three irrigational schemes." He claimed that the village Khiram, adjoining areas as well as the state witnessed a tremendous development on all levels including the education, agriculture, horticulture sectors. "If voted to power we will make this village as 'Apple Village' not Model village." Mufti concluded his speech with the promise. Khiram, about 30 kms from district headquarter Anantnag was declared Model Village by the PDP-Congress collation government in 2006-07, however the village is still crying for the development as the facilities promised under 'Model Village' scheme not reached to poor. "This is simply a poll plank, if he (Mufti) is sincere then he must first tell us what happened with the Model Village." Aijaz Ahmad, an activist said.Shopping complex, common facility center still remains locked in the village while as the computers and other infrastructure of the Rural Information Center missing.Despite repeated peals from the villagers since 2008, Rural Development department Minister, Ali 'Mohmmad Sagar failed to initiate an enquiry into what locals believe is a 'Scam'.Pertinently, Peoples Democratic Party has promised creation of `apple village' which will have high density orchard/production unit, storage/designing facility, picking and grading line/grinding unit and packaging and processing unit/marketing setup in its manifesto. |
