| BJP, PDP like oil and water, cannot form alliance: Congress | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Dec 26: As suspense over government formation continues in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress on Friday said that if Peoples Democratic Party asks for its support, it is ready to forge an alliance.
Commenting on the possibility of Bharatiya Janata Party and PDP coming together, Congress leader Salman Soz said that Mehbooba's party needs to think about giving a stable government in J&K.
Soz maintained that BJP and PDP cannot form an alliance as both the parties are "like oil and water" and there is "no chemistry" between them.
Speaking on NC-BJP relations, the Congress leader said that no one in Omar's party wants a tie-up with BJP.
Soz further said that BJP doesn't have a "single largest mandate".
While the PDP secured 28 seats, the BJP won an impressive 25 in the 87-member J&K Assembly. NC won 15, Congress 12 and Others managed 7 seats. The reports of a BJP-PDP tie-up is doing the rounds after BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday evening held two separate rounds of talks with senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
Asserting that it has several options in government-formation in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP on Thursday said it holds the "veto power" in the state.
"All options are open for us. The newly-elected MLAs of the party have decided that they will go with the decision of the party president Amit Shah who will take a decision which is good for the party, the state and the country," Jaitley said. |
