Senior Party leader conspiring to settle scores | Nirmal Singh facing sabotage from within | | Bivek Mathur Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: A senior BJP leader of Jammu and Kashmir, who has been denied mandate in this election due to strong anti-incumbency, as per party sources is lobbying hard against the MLA Billawar who is also a strong contender in the race of Chief Ministership. The veteran leader is also said to be strong opponent of Dr. Nirmal Singh and had earlier made full efforts to field Nirmal Singh from Nagrota Assembly segment knowing that Davinder Singh Rana will definitely defeat Singh from the assembly constituency but that time, Singh had denied to contest from the Nagrota assembly segment saying: "Either field me from Billawar assembly segment or don't give me party mandate". Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister who had arrived in Jammu along with Arun Sharma, Ram Madhav and other members of BJP to discuss the formation of government after achieving 25 assembly seats along with the support of 6 independents is said to be very close to this veteran leader and using this proximity, the same leader is leaving no stone unturned to keep Nirmal Singh away from the race of Chief Ministership of Jammu and Kashmir. Party sources also maintained that the same leader knew that he would not get the party mandate from his assembly segment due to strong anti-incumbency against him and hence tried his level best to be absorbed in National Executive of the party as permanent appointee in the year 2013 but Delhi based leadership preferred Dr. Nirmal Singh and former President of the party Shamsher Singh Manhas as permanent appointee over this leader following which he started anti-Nirmal Singh campaign within the State BJP and tried to influence Delhi based leadership including Arun Jaitley to checkmate Nirmal Singh. Party sources also maintained that Arun Jaitley had held personal meetings with all the candidates who have got decisive public mandate from Jammu region on December 25 to know their choice of leader for the post of CM in Jammu and Kashmir and majority of the candidates were not in favour of Singh as they were deeply influenced by this senior party leader. |
