MLC aspirants in BJP start lobbying by pretending proximity with Sangh Parivar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: Even as no breakthrough has yet been made on formation of next Government in Jammu and Kashmir, some over ambitious in the second largest party have prematurely started lobbying for a berth in the Upper House. These aspirants in the BJP, which is confident of coming to power in the State, are eying on the Upper House seats falling vacant in near future. These aspirants have even prepared the list of those `eligible' for being MLC on the basis of seniority in the party and caste criteria. Besides some senior BJP leaders, who were denied mandate in the Assembly elections, a number of self styled high-profiles in the party and a few influential businessmen are in the race for entry into the Legislative Council, where 12 to 16 seats are falling vacant by March-April 2015. According to the sources in BJP circles, these aspirants are in no mood to leave any stone unturned to garner support for their possible candidature and have started making rounds of those who matter in the decision making in the party. Sangh Parivar and its office bearers are apparently the most preferred tools of these aspirants to begin lobbying in their favour. In a bid to woo Sangh Parivar for achieving the target, those who were alien to RSS throughout their life, are falsely associating their past with the organization and its activities, sources explained while pointing towards frequency of visits by strangers to the Veer Bhawan (RSS Headquarters in Jammu) these days. Since all the aspirants are well aware of the fact that BJP national president Amit Shah will have final say in the selection of candidates for Legislative Council berth, sources said that attempts to establish some credible contact with the latter are also being initiated through different routes but little progress has yet been achieved on this front. |
