Why is Rana desperate for an alliance with BJP? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: The working president of National Conference and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has left for England to give ` hug to his mama and Papa'. His papa underwent a kidney transplantation recently in England. Earlier, he and his most trusted lieutenant, Devender Singh Rana who successfully contested the Nagrota assembly seat went to Delhi and held negotiations with BJP leaders and explored the possibility of forming a government with BJP support. It has been reliably learnt that Mian Altaf, the successful candidate from Kangan and Agha Roohullah from Budgam have threatened resignation incase Omar forged an alliance with the BJP. It has been further learnt that Ali Mohammad Sagar opposed the alliance with the BJP vehemently thus shattering Rana's dream. Initially Omar Abdullah opposed any relationship with the right wing BP. However, late in the evening on December 23 when results came out Omar while talking to NDTV said that there was a small crack in the window for BJP. Next day Omar and Rana flew to New Delhi and held extensive talks with the BJP leadership. Interestingly Rana has been opposing the BJP since Parliamentary elections. NC insiders have expressed shock and surprise over his desperation to forge an alliance with the BJP. |
