Hiding its involvement Pak in a denial mode
1/4/2015 11:00:41 PM
It is a tale of one who is holding a gun
and firing on the neighbour in one breath
and denying its involvement in the incident in another breath. When the Indian coastal guards foiled a Pakistani gameplan of repeating the Mumbai incident in Gujarat- Islamabad immediately denied any knowledge about its involvement in the incident in which a boat having entered the Indian sea area in Porbandar in Gujarat from Karachi was blown up by the four occupants before they were going to be captured by the Indian Navy officials who were chasing the boat and directing the four men,on the boat,to surrender.Pakistan has rejected India's claim that the crew of a Pakistani fishing boat blew up and sank their vessel in an attempt to evade capture at the hands of the Indian Navy in a high-speed chase at sea on the New Year's eve. Islamabad has denied that any boat from Keti Bunder port of the country's Sindh province had sailed off. The foreign office termed the Indian claim as mere propaganda to tarnish the image of Pakistan.
On Friday, the Indian officials said that a suspicious Pakistani fishing boat apparently loaded with explosives blew up in the sea and sank off Gujarat after being intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard. What was the reason that forced the four crew members to blow up the boat and left themselves dead ? Had they simply sailed into the Indian sea area by mistake they would have willingly responded to the India Navy personnels' direction to surrender..Neither the boat was stopped nor the crew members surrendered before the Indian coastal guards. They committed a suicide lest their plan should get exposed. Another question, why Islamabad denied that any boat had sailed off from Karachi port when the Indian Navy officials had claimed that the terrorist strike was being planned by the activists of Lashkar-i-Toiba.India simply said that Lashkar activists had possibly entered into the Indian area either to target Gujarat's coastal town or were simply on a recce mission so that they could carry out surveillance of the area which later was to be targeted on the pattern of the 2008 terrorist strike in Mumbai,in which over 166 people were killed. When the Mumbai mayhem was carried out in 2008 the terrorists had sneaked into India's financial hub after travelling in a boat which had sailed off from Karachi. At that time, despite capturing of Ajmal Kasab, Islamabad denied its involvement in the terrorist strike.
During the last three days Pakistani troops have been pounding the Indian border villages and the BSF posts in Samba sector of Jammu and in Tanghdar area of Kashmir. And notwithstanding the fact that more than eight Pakistani Rangers have been killed in the Indian retaliatory fire Islamabad continues to blame Indian forces for having violated ceasefire agreement. Repeated ceasefire violations on the IB in Jammu, during the last three days and the latest in Tanghdar, have left one BSF soldier, two Army jawans dead and over 17 people, including one BSF jawan, injured. Does Islamabad expect the Indian forces to open fire on Indian civilians and on the BSF ? Two fundamentalists, Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, said to have engineered the Mumbai carnage have not been penalized even after India submitted sufficient proof of their involvement in the terrorist strike. While Saeed is a free man Lakhvi has been rearrested but on charge of kidnapping. It is time Pakistan modified its policy vis-à-vis India and stop using the soil of Pakistan for exporting terror to India.Once it is done Islamabad will be able to understand the magnanimity of New Delhi which has always been ready to cooperate with Islamabad in resolving various problems of people of Pakistan.Islamabad should realise that cordial ties between India and Pakistan could guarantee peace in the entire south Asian region.
