Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 4: Skeletons have started tumbling out of the cupboard as the accused PSO cum cook of the former DIG IRP Gulzar Singh Slathia (now retired IGP) namely Babu Ram, involved in the infamous recruitment scam and arrested by the Channi Himmat Police, disclosed that besides having hand in recruitment scam and other fraudulent activities, he and his senior police officer at the rank of IGP held a fake camp of the recruitment of the forest guards in district Udhampur in the year 2012. The duo, it is believed made a fortune by holding fake recruitment of the forest guard drive.
After the scam got exposed, Rehmbal police lodged FIR No 84/2013 u/s 420 RPC,5 (2 PCA) Prevention of Corruption Act. The inquiry in this connection is in progress by DySP (DAR),Udhampur.
Meanwhile, sources said that another PSO of the then DIG IRP Gulzar Singh identified as Amarpaul Singh who too was involved in the infamous IRP recruitment scam 2009, was booked by Vigilance Organization Jammu. The investigation of case is under progress. Sources further said that the scam brought blot to the Khakhi as it runs into Rs 7 Crores, adding, the senior police officers involved in the infamous scam are still at bay.
The FIR in another fake forest guard recruitment scam was lodged by Rehmbal police after the interference of the former Member Parliament (MP) Lal Singh. The ex MP was approached by the aggrieved persons after they realized that they were duped of lakhs of rupees by a senior police officer at the rank of IGP, now retired, and his subordinates who allegedly held open rally of the recruitment of the forest guard in the year 2012 and took hefty amount from the gullible youth for getting them appointment in the forest department. For the purpose of recruitment, the senior police officer and his subordinate opened a fake office of the forest department in Jammu and in Udhampur district as well.
After realized of being duped, the aggrieved approached to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who did recruitment of the forest guards, where they were threatened of dire consequences as giving and taking corruption is a criminal offence.
Though, the Rambal police lodge FIR in the fake recruitment of the forest guard as aggrieved openly revealed the name of the IGP rank person and his subordinate who duped them, but neither did police secure arrest of the accused nor they bothered to investigate the matter, which raised eyebrows on the working of the district police.
Meanwhile, DySP (DAR) Udhampur Arun Jamwal, who is holding inquiry said that after lodging FIR, police conducted raid at the residence of the accused cop at Jindrah and his battalion in 14 AP but he was found absconding.
SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary did not respond to the phone calls for comment, however, DIG Udhampur Reasi range Gareeb Dass when contacted said that SHO Rambal has been directed to take the accused PSO into custody from Channi Police for investigation ,adding, whosoever found involve in the scam would be dealt with iron hand.
