| Inaugurated 3 months back, ISM additional block lying unused | | Locked 2-storey building mocks director's claims | | Bijay Charak
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: The hastiness on part of ISM director could be gauged from the fact that instead of waiting for completion of 25-bedded additional Block, he had inaugurated the building in September last year when it had been partially completed. Astoundingly after the lapse of three months, the complex is still closed and the authorities concerned are in no position to make it functional as there is shortage of equipments and manpower to run the block. Reliable sources informed Early Times that the 2-storey building work of 25 bedded additional block of Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu, was awarded to J&K Housing Board at an estimated cost of Rs 77 lakh. The cost was later revised at Rs 108 lakh. The executing agency started work in 2010-11 and completed it on expected date of completion 2012. "The ISM department has already been too late to inaugurate the complex but finally after the lapse of around two years, the department inaugurated it the previous year. It, however, has no adequate equipments and manpower due to which the block is still closed", sources said and added that even after its inauguration, OPD was still being run from the old block which is devoid of sufficient sitting arrangement for patients. They said the OPD is held in old block in separate rooms which are too small. The hospital has no proper arrangement of waiting rooms for patients as a result of which they keep standing outside the doctor's room. "If more than 10 patients visit for check up at a time, they have to keep standing in the gallery", sources said. The 25-bedded additional Block was inaugurated by J&K ISM Director, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar on September 21, 2014. When contacted, the director said that the 25 bedded building would be functioning and in the complex the special OPD would be held including Panchkarma and Kshar Sutra. |
