Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: Believe it or not, but it is true that former Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, lost election from Gulmarg constituency not because there was Modi wave or anti incumbancy, but his trusted man Tejinder Singh secured 1945 votes, which was one of the factor for Mir’s defeat. As per the credible sources and information available with Early Times, Tejinder Singh who was on high post in DPN, the party led by Ghulam Hassan Mir was removed from the post and party before elections at the behest of some people close to Mir. Talking to Early Times, Tejinder Singh, general secretary, (DPN), Democratic Party Nationalist said that he challenged the expulsion order and got it stayed from high court and remained in party up to 1 January, 2014 against the wishes of the party president and his policy. He added that he went to Delhi on foot which took him around one month and remained hungry for six days. He finally gave a memorandum to Congress leaders because Bashir Magray, Congress leader announced that Mir was a Congress man. Getting no response from central leadership, he decided to fight election against Mir in Gulmarg constituency. He campaigned only for 15 days and secured 1945 votes and the defeat margin was 2800 only and his fighting election was one major factor. Another factor was 900 votes to NOTA , it means that NOTA votes added to his defeat .if we add 1945 votes of Tejinder Singh and 900 votes of NOTA, it is enough to defeat Mir because his margin was only 2800 . One more factor was his cousin Shabbir Mir who also fought election as an independent candidate and got 11000 votes. His fighting election for first time and securing 11000 is remarkable. It is pertinent to mention here that Mohammad Abbas Wani of PDP got 22800 votes and Ghulam Hassan Mir got 20146 votes and winning margin was less than 2800 votes, it mean nota votes and Tejinder Singh, his onetime trusted lieutenant who secured around 2000 votes was major factor for Hassan Mir defeat in assembly election. |
