Kamaal does some plain-speaking to expose separatists | Govt formation | | Neha
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 8: NC additional general secretary and Farooq Abdullah's younger brother Mustafa Kamaal is known more for his provocative and anti-New Delhi, anti-Army, anti-Congress, anti-PDP and anti-BJP statements, as also for his statements which are considered communal and patently Kashmir-centric than for his positive interventions. He hardly makes a statement that is appreciated by the people of Jammu and Ladakh and by New Delhi. However, on Wednesday, Mustafa Kamaal did some plain-speaking to expose the separatists and side with those who want a democratically-elected government in place at the earliest. Mustafa Kamaal tore into separatists knowing it fully well that the party to which he belongs was comprehensively defeated by the people and that there was no possibility of the PDP and the NC forging any alliance to form the government. Indeed, Kamaal did a right thing by supporting the democratic process and underlining the need for a popularly-elected government and by denouncing the Kashmiri separatists. His grouse against the separatists, including Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and the likes of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, is that they are poking their nose in the affairs in which they do not have any interest and that by interfering in such affairs they are simply adding to the difficulties of the people. "We really fail to understand that when the separatist leadership during the elections had issued boycott calls and urged people to stay away from polls, how could it interfere in the formation of the government," he said and maintained that there were many Hurriyat leaders who had publicly stated that the elections were "non-issue and can in no way infringe upon the Kashmir cause". "If polls are a non-issue, how come long speeches and statements are now being issued by the separatists on government formation? Once they have boycotted the polls, they should not poke their nose into the process of the government formation," he further said to corner them and show hem their right place. Mustafa Kammal didn't stop just there. He further said: "As Hurriyat leaders are busy scuttling the formation of the new government by dishing out statements, does that mean Hurriyat is going to provide alternate government to the people of the state. They must come clear over such issue". Kamaal candidly told the separatists that they must hold themselves aloof and not create difficulties for the people by playing dirty games. It will not be out of place to point out that the many separatists have opposed an alliance between the PDP and the BJP, saying that the BJP is "anti-Kashmir and anti-Kashmiri Muslim" and that Kashmiri cause would get damaged if the BJP becomes part of the J&K government. Only on Tuesday, Geelani had asked the Kashmiri Muslims to watch with vigilance the activities of the PDP and the NC and warned the people of Kashmir that the formation of the PDP/NC-BJP government in the state would mean destruction of Kashmir, Kashmiri society, Kashmiri culture and Kashmiri property. He had accused the Kashmiri parties of selling out Kashmir to fulfill their lust for power. And on Wednesday, Salahuddin said: "Those who believe this (PDP-BJP) government will provide them succor and heal their wounds are living in a fool's paradise. Kashmiri people have no expectations from such hand-picked governments of New Delhi. And now the ugly face of the government will appear when it will be formed with the support of most communal, anti Kashmiri and anti-Muslim party BJP". It's time for other Kashmiri leaders to join hands with Mustafa Kamaal and isolate the Kashmiri separatists whose one-point agenda is to keep the Kashmir pot boiling and mint easy money at the cost of the suffering people. Mustafa Kamaal has taken a right stand that needs to be appreciated by one and all. |
