Woman gives birth to triplet

BARAMULLA, Jan 8: A team of dedicated doctors performed High Risk Surgery (HRS) at Mother and Child Care hospital here in Sopore town of this north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday, in which a mother delivered a triplet.
The surgery was performed by a team of specialized doctors at Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Sopore. According to hospital authorities breaking the tradition of referral of such patients to other tertiary care hospitals in valley, a gynae patient Haseena Begum W/O Mohammad Jamal R/O Malpora Sopore, she was admitted here vide MRD number 2734 with previous two Lower segment Caesarian section (LSCS). "It is a caesarian section in which the surgical incision (cut) is made in the lower segment of the uterus, was operated on January 7 at Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Sopore.
The patient delivered a triplet, both mother and the neonates are doing well, authorities said. Hospital authorities told early times that, the surgery was performed by Dr Rakhshanda Rashid Senior gynecologist and the team of doctors included Dr. Ishtyaq Ahmad anesthesiologist, Dr. Qiaser Amad pediatrician, Mushtaq, Hilal Ahmad and Ab Rashid Operation Theatre assistants. Pertinently, the custom of referral of such patients to tertiary care centres has brought a respite to the patients living in far flung areas and it depicts the strong commitment, zeal and enthusiasm of health department to bring a complete and effective healthcare system to the doorsteps of the people especially in rural areas. Early times spoke to Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore, Dr Syed Masood who said that, such kind of surgeries are considered to be of high risk but with the dedication of doctors, surgery was made successful and four lives were saved. "Triplet births are always considered to be of high-risk a pregnancy, that means a pregnant woman with triplets needs and extra doctor's appointments and tests, Dr Masood said. This attention helps to make sure that both mother and her babies are doing well. With a specialized team of dedicated doctors, the surgery was performed successfully," BMO maintained. Early Times have leant from doctors about this surgery who said that In medical terminology, Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are obstetrician-gynecologists who undergo an additional 2-3 years of specialized training in the assessment and management of high-risk pregnancies.
Doctors added and said that as a result, they are able to take care of pregnant women who have special medical problems (e.g. heart or kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, and thrombophilia).
