Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 8: The prolonged wait of aspirants for JK Combined Competitive examination is finally over as the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has announced that the preliminary examination would be held on March 1, 2015. Moreover, the KAS mains examination would be held two months after of the preliminary stage is over. A JKPSC official while talking to Early Times said that after hectic efforts, administration of various colleges in Srinagar has agreed to spare space for establishment of examination centers. "Due to devastating floods in September last year, infrastructure in colleges had suffered huge damages, due to which the administration was reluctant to provide the space. After repeated personal intervention of PSC officials and after assurance of some minor repairs and to get the rooms cleaned, the PSC authorities managed to convince the college principals, to provide them with some space", he said. According to notification PSC/Exam/KAS (Pre)/2014 issued by JKPSC, dated January, 8, 2014, which read as, "The eligible candidates who have applied for the posts under Combined Competitive Examination, 2014 in response to Notification No.PSC/Examination/2014/36 dated 24/4/2014 that the Preliminary Examination which was postponed earlier shall now be held on March 1, 2015 (Sunday) in two sessions. The Paper I (General Studies) shall be held from 10 to 12 PM and the Paper II (Optional Subject) from 2 PM to 4 PM, the notification read. The notification further read as, "The Admit Cards/Call Letters shall be dispatched to the candidates in the first week of February, 2015. The candidates can also download the same from the official website of the Commission http://www.jkpsc.nic.in from 20th of February, 2015 onwards." Official further said that the Mains examination of KAS would be held after two months of preliminary examination. "PSC has no chairman and may be till March the post will be filled. We have decided to give at least two months to applicants to prepare for Mains examination", he said. Pertinently, the KAS preliminary exams were scheduled to be held in October 2014 but same were postponed following devastating floods in Kashmir. Apprehensions were raised that JKPSC might issue another notification after merging the posts with next year posts but today's notification has set the speculations to rest. |
