Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 8: With just 18 days left for Republic Day celebrations participants from Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP) Daredevils are facing apathy on part of their higher ups, who have allegedly failed to sanction funds for repairing their bikes, which were damaged in the devastating deluge in September last year.
Sources informed Early Times the Daredevil regiment of JKP has been conducting rehearsal at Police Line Channi Himmat, but due to failure of administration to release funds for repairs of their bikes these policemen have reportedly repaired their bikes on their own. Source in the department informed Early Times that the policemen, who have to participate in Republic Day parade on their Bullet motor bikes, have repeatedly apprised the Police Head Quarters to release funds to get their bikes repaired but PHQ has not acted till date.
"When the department didn't consider our demand we decided to repair out bikes on our own so that we will be able to perform during the Republic day parade", a policeman said.
He said, "Daredevils perform stunts by putting their lives at stake and to entertain the audience and also bring laurels to the Jammu Kashmir Police but astonishingly our own department is totally unconcerned about our genuine demands", adding that the department has instructed holding rehearsal at Police Line, Channi Himmat, even the ground was not properly maintained.
"According to the guidelines, the grass from the playground should be totally uprooted to avoid accidents", he asserted.
A daredevil pleading anonymity said that it was for the first time they have been doing practices without refreshment and department even seems least interested in providing basic amenities' to them. "This unprofessional attitude of the department would affect the performance of daredevils", he asserted.
When this correspondent contacted In-charge Daredevils, Sub Inspector, Farooq Ahmed said that he has repeatedly apprised the higher authorities about the matter and exuded hope that demands would be considered soon.
