Governor likely to issue proclamation on January 19 | Constitutional crisis in J&K | | Bashir Assad Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 8: Jammu and Kashmir state is all set to come under Governor's rule following the failure of the political parties to form a government in view of the fractured mandate they received in the recently held elections. Though BJP claims that talks were on with political parties for government formation in the state, however, there are authentic reports of talks been frozen due to strong position taken by PDP. Rajbhavan Thursday remained busy in working out constitutional requirements under Section 92 of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir. Governor N N Vohra shall issue a proclamation on January 19, 2015 if the political parties fail to form the new government in the state, sources told Early Times. According to sources Governor N N Vohra is in Delhi to discuss the present political scenario and its fall out with the union government. Sources said that in case no group or party is not in a position or willing to form the government of the state, governor will seek the concurrence of the President of India for issuance of a proclamation to enforce Governor's rule under Section 92 of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir. The stage for Governor's rule in the state seems to be set following the breakdown of talks between the major political parties for government formation. Sources said the Law Department of the J&K Government is supporting rajbhavan in working out the niceties required under law. |
