2 drug peddlers held; 50 corex bottles, illicit liquor recovered

Rajouri, Feb 8: To eradicate the menace of drugs from society in all districts of Jammu province, J&K Police have been holding seminars, symposiums and awareness camps in every district.
Besides awareness programmes, Rajouri Police has started drive against the drug mafia and recovered 50 bottles of psychotropic substance Corex, 3 liters of illicit liquor and 15 liters of Lahan from Rajouri City and Kurlian area of Kalakot tehsil during last two days which is being supervised by AK Attri, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch and Dr. Haseeb Mughal, SSP. SSP Mughal held a meeting with the prominent citizens of Rajouri city and besides other crime related issues and he promised not to leave any stone unturned in eradicating drug menace from the society but also sought the cooperation of the people to keep strict watch on the activities of their wards and anti-social element.
Against its drive, Police post in-charge sub inspector, Mohd Sharief laid a naka at Chattigali in late hours and apprehended two youth carrying drugs towards the desire destination. During frisking, 50 bottles of Corex were recovered and both accused were taken to police post. A case has been registered under FIR No. 63/2015 under 8/21/22 NDPS Act.
Both accused have been identified as Irfan Qayoom alias Naddi S/o Abdul Qayoom, reportedly a journalist and Farooq Khan S/o Abdul Rashid.
Meanwhile, Kalakot Police under the supervision of Chaman Gorkha, SHO in its drive against drug peddlers conducted a raid at village Kurlian and seized 3 liters of illicit liquor and 15 liters of Lahan.
Police has registered all accused under 48 Excise Act and a case under FIR No. 7/2015 has been registered and a man hunt has been launched to nab all accused who have been identified as Kala Ram S/o Swaran Dass and Pritam Singh S/o Jeet Kumar and Subhash Chander S/o Pritam Dass, all resident of Kurlian.
