Not a word from former CM on Gymnasts' feat at National Games | Why Omar turns mute on Jammu's accomplishments? | | Abodh sharma
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Proactive on social media for host of issues from politics to terror and sports, Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has generally been seen turning into mute mode when it comes to remarkable achievements by the people of Jammu. Omar who turned to tweeter too often during last few months, lost his voice and thought when young women gymnasts of the state created history at the ongoing National Games at Trivandrum, Kerela, by beating Punjab and Maharashtra, the states which offer far better training facilities and incentives to their sportsmen. It is same Omar Abdullah who had been enthusiastically commenting on performances of Parvez Rasool and his selection in the Indian Team. Omar was also inert when same gymnasts of Jammu got selected in the Indian gymnastics team that participated in Last commonwealth games at Glasgow and when a Doda Youth Chain Singh won a medal in Shooting at the last Asian Games. Omar's indifference to the performance of gymnasts is particularly indefensible for the fact that Omar was the president of the State Sports Council for the six long years and the during his tenure, he failed to even reward the medal winners of the last edition of National Games held at Jharkhand. "These gymnasts won medals at the last national games also, but Omar did not have time to honour these young girls who braved pressing odds to put up exemplary performances at top most competition in the country" said a parent. "This time, these gymnasts had offer to represent host Kerela, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, which offer 5 lacs for Gold, 3 lacs for Silver and 1 lac for Bronze medal, but they preferred to stay loyal to their own state, eventhough they got nothing in exchange " he added. |
