Bhim's interference in Goswami episode, silence on Tallo issue | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 8: Panthers Party supremo and advocate Bhim Singh has the track record of interfering in any issue that does not concern him. The latest being the sacking of union home secretary Anil Goswami by the Modi-government at the Centre. But before the Goswami issue, it was the release of ex-MLC Trilochan Singh alias Tallo by the court but he did not feel it proper to demand a probe into the SIT conduct of booking Tallo and others in the Chopra family murders. Bhim on Saturday questioned prime minister Narendra Modi of his "authoritarian" act of sacking Goswami at a time when election code of conduct was in operation in the union capital. Alleging that this was an unparallel act of political vendetta, malafide action and discrimination of the Modi government to fire an official from a highly responsible job on the pretext that he had asked the agency concerned not to arrest an ex-union minister, he asked Modi whether the Union Home Secretary was a domestic in the PMO or an official of the rank of Union Home Secretary? "Had he any discretion or authority to intervene to verify the facts of the matter brought to his notice, as he might have done, assuming if that charge is true. What are the powers vested in Union Home Secretary in that situation? Are there any grey areas under his jurisdiction or he is just a rubber stamp of the prime minister?" he asked. Bhim alleged that the Centre had violated the Code of Conduct by sacking Goswami. "This speaks volumes of the malafide intention on the part of PM. Is it because the government failed to tame Anil Goswami to use its draconian authority to manipulate EVMs as was done in case of J&K and other states in the recent past? he alleged. He also expressed surprise over the silence of Election Commission of India on this grave violation of code of conduct. The dismissal of Sujata Singh was equally shocking and disgusting, he said and urged the President of India to hold judicial enquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court into the dismissal of the two top IAS officers. One fails to understand what stops Bhim from taking such a stand on the Tallo issue. He could have at least asked for an impartial probe by a sitting or retired Supreme Court judge into the conduct of SIT of police for booking Tallo and others in the Chopra family murders. But he did not do so for the reasons best known to him. The Tallo issue also cannot be just brushed aside by anyone. It needs a sincere and thorough probe to bring the truth to the fore. It is very important to expose the "black sheep" in the erstwhile NC-Congress government who had used every opportunity to promote their business interests and done a great harm to their party. Let Bhim take the lead and become the first J&K politician in demanding a probe into the SIT functioning in the Chopra family murders. |
