Rajouri, Feb 8: Three persons have been apprehended by police for selling buffalo meat in the old city locality here. Police sources said that at about 6 pm, some inhabitants of Peer Kanju locality noticed suspicious movement of two youth in a Tata Mobile bearing registration No JK 11-4532. They were also found talking with some people of the area reportedly to help them in the sale of the meat in the locality dominated by the members of both communities. After some locals informed cops led by Sub-Inspector Mohammad Sharief rushed to the spot and intercepted the Tata Mobile. During checking, police found meat packed in two bags. Both the accused, whom sources identified as Mohammad Sahil Mir, son of Mushtaq Mir and Mohammad Shafiq, son of Ghulam Ahmed, both residents of Behrot in Thanamandi, were arrested by police and vehicle was also seized. Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP said that police had worked out the case and the meat was found to be that of a buffalo and it was not a sacrilegious Act. He said that on the identification of the accused, police also arrested Zebu of Behrot who had committed the crime and also recovered the skin, one leg and one horn of the buffalo from his house. "Police have also recovered the weapon of crime and the meat was also got checked by the veterinary doctor in the presence of some minority community members. Police is committed to take action against the accused possibly under section 295A/ of RPC," he said. |
