| POK refugees raise demands before Union, state Govt | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 8 : A meeting of J&K POK DP'S front (1947, 1965 & 1971) held at Sports Stadium Hiranagar, which was attended by hundreds of refugees from all the corners of Tehsil. Addressing the gathering Bakshi said that state government has recommended the case of the refugees to the Union government (GOI) for the package of Rs.9096 Crore for one time settlement of refugees. The Govt. in this recommendation includes Rs. 25 Lakh per family, reservation in central govt jobs for the wards of the refugees, reservation in professional colleges and technical colleges etc.
But till date the package has not been released by the Central Govt. The Central Govt. send back the case to the state govt. for the resubmission of the case of the P.O.K refugees along with the case of West Pakistan Refugees instead of releasing the package for the refugees of P.O.K (1947, 1965 & 1971). The others present in the meeting includes Om Parkash Vice- President Balbir Singh General Secretary Sardar Narinder Pal Singh (Lucky), Sham Kumar Sabarwal, Balbir Singh (Lambardar) Shankar Dass, Subhash Chander, Sham Lal, Bansi Lal, Vijay Bakshi & Arun Bakshi. |
