BJP would use PDP for its communal agenda : Azad | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8 : Terming BharatiyaJanta Party (BJP) as communal, Congress veteran and Leader of Opposition in RajyaSabhaGhulamNabi Azad today said the party would use Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its agenda in Jammu and Kashmir. Azad said, "Alliance of PDP and BJP can change political situation in J&K. PDP who till yesterday were against BJP are in alliance with them today. People in Kashmir voted for PDP as it claimed that it can stop communal BJP. But now against the secular credentials of the state they (PDP) went with BJP." Congratulating National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah, its working president Omar Abdullah independent MLAs Hakim Mohammad Yasin, M Y Tarigami and Engineer Rashid for voting him and maintaining secular credentials, Azad said, "Communal BJP will fire from the PDP's shoulders in JK. They will use PDP for their own agenda and if there is communal polarization, PDP will be responsible for it." Quoting US President Barack Obama's recent statement regarding rise of religious intolerance in India, he said, "Modi used to say Obama is his best friend and he has good chemistry with him (Obama). But now Obama himself said that India is in danger since BJP came to power as religious intolerance in the country is growing." Lashing out at PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his party's proposed alliance with the BJP, the Azad said, "Obama said that minorities in India are in danger due to the rise of BJP. When Obama said so why couldn't Mufti see it that BJP is a communal party? This BJP is not of Vajpayee but it is BJP of Amit Shah. It is the BJP which is spreading hatred in the India and for that they spending lot of money. PDP has entered into an alliance with this BJP. In coming years whatever happens in J&K PDP will be responsible for it." Asked about his party's stand on West Pakistan Refugees issue, he said, "Congress has clear policy on it. But BJP and PDP are poles apart on the issue. But both are power hungry and have entered into an alliance." On PDP's allegations that Congress bowed before Engineer Rashid to get his vote to ensure his victory, Azad said, "If they say Congress bowed before an independent MLA, they bowed before RSS for chair. It doesn't suit PDP to issue such statements." |
