Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 15: Up in arms against alleged callous attitude of the State Government towards their issues, hundreds of ReT Teachers from all the districts of the State held a massive protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground, Jammu.
The ReT Teachers, in the form of a procession, also tried to take out march towards the Civil Secretariat but were stopped by heavy contingent of Police at Indira Chowk Jammu where a dharna was staged for around half an hour.
The protesting ReTs were raising slogans in support of their demands, particularly regularization of those who have already completed five years in service.
The protest demonstration, under the banner of All J&K ReT Teacher Forum, was led by the Forum president Vinod Sharma.
Though, Education Minister 2 years back had promised to streamline the SSA salary within 6 months but ground reality after 2 years is that SSA teachers are living miserable lives and there is pin drop silence from the government side on this crucial issue which is related to thousands of SSA teachers and masters of the state.
He further said that Teachers regularisëd under ReT scheme be designated as teachers and not by a created 'term " RRT" and be brought under same transfer poiicy as for general line teachers by implementing hon'ble high court order and regularisation process be speeded up .
Meanwhile the executive body of Forum threatened to launch statewide protests and gherao the Assembly in coming days if the screening test order is not revoked and SSA salary is not released immediately and they appeaied the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to personally intervene in the matter of screening test and SSA salary so that thousands of ReTs of the state may not suffer any more.
Others who also addressed the gathering were:-Najam Jafri, Sukhdev Singh Sumbria , Rajesh Jamwal , Naresh Sharma , Sham Sharma Sajad Malik , Gulzabir Daing , Lekh Raj Parihar, Manzoor Khan , Subash Chander, Balwan Singh , Pankaj Verma , Tahir Masood , Dinesh Singh , Shabir Chowdhary , Surjit Singh , Ravinder Singh , Kuldip Katoch , Manzoor Malik Ravinder Chib and others.
