Miffed over omission of his name from the invitation card, Sports Minister likely to keep away | All India Police Hockey | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 15: Peeved over the omission of his name from the invitation cards for the final match and the prize distribution ceremony of the All India Police Hockey tournament being hosted by the J&K Police at the KK Hakhu stadium scheduled for Friday, Minister for Sports, Imran Raza Ansari is likely to skip the function despite being in the town. The closing ceremony of the tournament is to be witnessed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as the chief guest while Minister for forest and environment, Lal Singh has been invited to preside over the function, but there is no mention of the Sports Minister on the card, despite the fact that it was a sports event organized in the stadium of the State Sports Council. "The name of the Sports Minister should have been on the invitation card by all means as the Chief Minister would be coming to the stadium of the Sports Council, which is directly under the Sports Minister" said a senior sports administrator. "J&K police have been ungrateful as it would not have been possible for them to organize the tournament without the unrelenting support and help of the Council" he added. It is pertinent to mention that the tournament has been marred by controversies from the very beginning and Sports Council staff had at one point made up their mind to go on protest when some players of the Police team misbehaved with the staff of the Council posted at KK Hakhu stadium, the venue of the tournament. |
