12/15/2016 11:00:41 PM
Jammu, Dec 15: Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society (MMJHS) expressed concern over deterioration condition of the buildings of Mubarak Mandi Complex.
According to press release a meeting of MMJHS Jammu was held here in which the members expressed their serious concern regarding the fast deteriorating condition of the buildings of Mubarak Mandi Complex and the official apathy towards this prestigious heritage, which is the symbol of identity of the Dogras.
The members recalled that in an earlier meeting, the members had requested the Chief Minister, who is the President of the Governing Body of the MMJHS, through press and also through a letter (Dated 30th Nov, 2016), to meet the non-official members so that the factual position may be placed before her to plan and decide the appropriate course of action to save this prestigious complex from destruction. However the members noted with pain that no opportunity has been provided to them, in spite of their request. The members once again urge upon the Chief Minister to meet the non official members at the earliest. The members also decided that if this opportunity is not provided to the members, then they will be compelled to adopt other means to express their dismay and resentment. They decided to stage a Dharna at the Mubarak Mandi complex on 26th of December, 2016 in case no meeting is held for the purpose. The members also expressed their serious concern regarding the recent order of the High court to shift the historical record of Archive department from the Mubarak Mandi to Kala Kendra.
While expressing their respect for the decision of the High Court the members felt that the complete facts regarding this matter were not placed before the High court and decided to approach the High court, to afford them an opportunity to place all relevant information and facts before of the High Court, lest this most precious historical record is destroyed.
