After 9 years, Doda University campus' fate hangs in balance | | | Abid Pampori

Doda, Dec 15: The Doda campus of University of Jammu is yet to take off after the inauguration by then Ex. Higher Education Minister J&K state Abdul Gani Malik on 22th December 2010 in the premises of Govt Higher Secondary School (B) Doda in presence of Ex MLA Doda Abdul Majeed Wani, Ex MLC Khalid Najeeb Surhawardy, former Deputy Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan, Former Rector Bhaderwah Campus JU besides number of media persons and local public. The same Campus was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of the state Ghulam Nabi Azad on 27th June in 2008. The student community of Doda has become the victim of the step-motherly treatment of Govt in the education sector. Sajjad Malik, Distt President Jammu and Kashmir ReT Teachers Forum (JKReTF) said "It is shame for the Govt that it is misleading the public and putting the students in ignorance by just inaugurating any institution and thereafter putting it to remain closed". Ghulam Hassan Pam-pori, president Doda Development Front (DDF) said, "Our struggle to make university Campus functional will continue until the PG classes will be started in the Campus and we are ready to take any extreme step for this cause" Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev, spokesperson of Civil Society Doda has said that the wrong interpretation by Ex. MLA and MLC is responsible for delay in the functioning of the Campus for which the public of the Doda will not tolerate Amrita Patak of AISF has said that the University Campus Doda has become the need for the rural public of Doda as they can't afford to persuade Higher Education in other parts of the state especially the girl students. |
