Strike of Nowshera residents enters day 11

Rajouri, Feb 26: Indefinite strike by the people of Nowshera sub division has entered 11th day today while police have foiled their attempt to block Jammu-Poonch highway on a bridge about 5 kilometers from Nowshera town.
People of Nowshera sub division have been struggling for district status since a long time but successive government have deceived them, alleged the people and said now they have decided to fight till they achieve their goal despite any hurdle. They added more than seventy thousand people from 34 panchyats have now decided to face any challenge/ hurdle till the government not announces district with HQs at Nowshera. The agitation has been initiated under the banner of Business Association headed by Subhash Kapoor and was supported by the people from every community.
For the last eleven days protesters have been organising peaceful protest demonstrations and sit in dharnas in front of SDM and tehsildar offices.
On Friday a high power delegation comprising of Minister for Health, Bali Bhagat; Abdul Ghani Kohli, Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries; Jugal Kishore, MP and Sat Pal Sharma, state BJP , president rushed to Sunderbani and Nowshera to talk with the people at both the places but they faced public ire and returned back. Subhash Kapoor and other prominent leaders including former sarpanchs of various villages said that Nowshera sub division is the oldest and offices of Additional SP and Sub Divisional Magistrate are functioning at Nowshera.
Meanwhile Ravinder Raina , BJP , MLA from Nowshera constituency has appealed to the Chief Minister to create a post of Additional DC (ADC) for Nowshera-Sunderbani and Kalakot Assembly constituencies because more than 5 lakh people living in these areas) most of the areas are situated along LoC and are for away from district HQs at Rajouri.
