People of Thathri demands separate assembly constituency
2/26/2018 10:54:11 PM
Early Times Report
Thathri, Feb 26: People of Sub-Division Thathri alleged that it is being ignored as there is neither a MLA or MLC since the time of independence. Erstwhile Thathri Tehsil, which is now a Sub-Division deserves to be a District on the basis of all those norms which were applied while Kishtwar & Ramban Tehsils were upgraded to the status of District. These were central places & each comprised of three Tehsils including Tehsil Kishtwar & Tehsil Ramban.
Sub-Division Thathri, (Erstwhile Thathri Tehsil) at present comprises of Four Tehsils instead three-- Thathri, Phagsoo, Kahara & Chirala. If Bhela Niabat which is on card to be upgraded is upgraded, The Sub-Division Thathri will be having Five Tehsils- two more than the existing norms. Moreover it is a central place for all the other 4 Tehsils. Even if Erstwhile Tehsil Gandoh having now one more Tehsil Bhatyas (Sub-Division Gandoh) is included, Sub-Division Thathri still remains the central place. Keeping these genuine claims in view, the public of Sub-Division Thathri have urged the state government to Upgrade Sub-Division Thathri to the Status of District. They also demands separate Assembly Constituency & a separate tourism Authority for Sub-Division Thathri as it now comprises of 5 Tehsils and all the existing Districts & Assembly Constituencies in the state have hardly 2 or 3 Tehsils.
