JKRCEA alleges discrimination with reserved categories
2/26/2018 10:54:25 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 26: Highlighting their grievances and demands, the heads of socio-religious wing, retired employees, unemployed youth/students & women wing of Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) today expressed their resentment over discrimination met out to the people of reserved categories day in and day out.
They urged the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to intervene for providing the social safeguard to them. The main points of discrimination presented in the press conference were caste based construction of Crematoriums using public money by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, reservation in promotions, politicization of Asifa murder case.
While addressing the press conference, Sham Lal Bason, head of socio-religious wing of JKRCEA said that it is unfortunate that on one side we claim that we are one society in the biggest democracy of the world and on other side, it is deeply pained to tell that at various places in our state, the public money is used to construct the castes based crematorium. Not only this, he further alleged that in Domana, the ladies from reserved categories were prevented to perform bath ritual after death which they arranged to perform in public premises in view of blockage of canal.
Nighat Shafeeq of women wing of JKRCEA said that the whole society has been shattered over the barbaric murder of Asifa but unfortunately many have been seen playing politics over this. She said that Asifa was daughter of Bharat and her case should be dealt humanly only and all the political players should keep themselves away from the probe being conducting by the govt. She also fervently appealed the BAR Associations, Chambers of Commerce & Industries of both the provinces of Jammu & Kashmir State, members of civil society and other NGOs to press hard and plead for thorough and speedy investigation.
Prof. G.L.Thappa while speaking on the occasion said that in the issue of restoration of reservation in promotion, despite issuance of directions by CM, delay at administrative level would be very harmful for the employees of these categories.
