| UIET agitation comes to end after Government revokes order | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 26: The UIET agitation which was started 22 days ago with the gherav of the vice chancellor secretariat has today reached its destination with Minister Education Altaf Bukhari restoring UIET to Jammu University as its constituent college again and start the classes with immediate effect.
With students demanding to revert of cabinet order for taking UIET from Jammu University and converting it into GCET Janglote which had affiliation with the Cluster University Jammu under RUSA scheme of MHRD for which the students plead that they had taken admission in Jammu University and not any cluster university.
The movement today saw some smiles on the faces of students who broke their hunger strike in the presence of MOS education Priya Sethi, who assured that students shall not face any problems till she is in the office and her doors are open for the students.
Meanwhile a delegation led by Deepak Gupta (state secretary, ABVP) met Minister Altaf Bukhari at his chamber. The meeting was held in the presence of Priya Sethi, Asgar Samoon (principal secretary higher education), Vice Chancellor Jammu University and Registrar Jammu University who had an open discussion on the UIET issue and minster showing his positive aspect accepted each and every condition of the university and reverted back UIET to Jammu University as a constituent college again. |
