Need for grand alliance
3/21/2018 9:49:05 PM
R.B. Suri

For the success of the Parliamentary Democracy in the country, it is essential that there should be a strong system of check and balance that means that the existence of a strong opposition is must . At the moment , opposition political parties very much are there in the Lok Sabha but are ineffective as the Indian National Congress- a political party having a background of more than 125 + years which fought against the British Raj and ultimately succeeded in achieving the independence of the country in 1947, has been reduced to the 'SKELETON' with the strength of only 44 MPs in the Lok Sabha.
Same is the case with other political parties which were dictating their terms to the UPA for running the Government at the Centre . Those were the days when these parties were ruling the country indirectly for a period more than a decade. Owing to this, Prime Minister Narender Modi has an open field from where he doesn't expect a challenge to his actions . A need of the hour is that there should be some unity among the other Political Parties besides Congress, of course in giving the tough resistance to Modi lest he be not turned as a Dictator . In order to check the further advancement of Prime Minister Narender Modi, the opposition political parties in the country apart from INC have already started thinking afresh for the unity finally as also for forming the Third Front / GRAND ALLIANCE which according to them is the need of the hour . At the same time,INC is moving swiftly in strengthening the UPA which ruled this nation for a decade. Sonia Gandhi Chairperson of the UPA took the initiative and invited the various leaders of the opposition parties for a dinner a few days back . This is a "Dinner Diplomacy" indeed . If NDA is to give a befitting fight in the Lok Sabha elections - 2019 there should be unity among the opposition political parties . Divided opposition can't face the BJP. It is a very serious matter of concern for the opposition political parties. Keeping this in view, Sonia Gandhi had the detailed discussions with their leaders over a dinner. 20 leaders of the various parties attended the dinner hosted by her.
In fact she is supporting her son Rahul Gandhi firmly to lead the UPA to form the next government at the centre in 2019. Come what may . She is actually nurturing her son as successor. All the participating leaders in the 'Dinner Meet' are of the view that there should be 'GRAND ALLIANCE'. Sonia had not invited the TDP led by Chander Babu Naidu and YRS leaders for the reasons best known to her. Pertinent to mention here that very recently Chander Babu Naidu had broken the ties with NDA and has made the good bye to NDA for all practical purposes. It is to be seen that will the opposition parties come together on a single point agenda of challenging the BJP lobby including its PM Modi. Leaving aside their egos conflicts , the Political Parties like RJD, SP, CPI, CPI (M), TMC , NCP, JDU, JDS, should take the lesson from Kejriwal and join their hands together in giving befitting reply to the PM Modi as an alternative.
Hectic activities are going on these days in the Indian National Congress (INC) camp in motivating the youth of the country who stood behind the Prime Minister Narender Modi in the Lok Sabha elections 2014 and were promised by NDA that, if voted to power, they will be having the ample opportunities for employment. Almost four years have passed but they have not got the employment as yet resulting which they feel as betrayed actually. Feeling their pulse, now Rahul Gandhi has come forward at their rescue. He has now become very active and improved his oration a lot. From mild , he has switched over to the aggressiveness and challenging the Prime Minister Narender Modi on every front. On March 18, Rahul Gandhi President INC , while addressing the 84th Plenary Session of the INC held at New Delhi, described the BJP leaders as the team of the 'KAURAVAS' and whereas he termed his party as the 'PANDVAS'. On this score, he referred about the old MAHABHARAT BATTLE fought between the 'KAURAVAS' and 'PANDVAS' which was fought at KORUKASHETRA. Rahul Gandhi announced that they will win the coming Lok Sabha elections -2019 and 'll come into power at the centre by all means. Not only this, he committed that when they do some wrong, they always say boldly that they have committed the wrong but on the contrary when BJP commits some wrong, it always don't confess the same and go on like this on one pretext and the other and justifying as correct thereby adopting the adamant attitude. Rahul Gandhi promised that if UPA comes into power in 2019, the country will become "Lovely India" once again. The top priorities of the UPA government will be:-
Providing of Jobs to the unemployed youth ( both skilled and unskilled)
Raising of Income of the farming community and rest all other priorities fall in line after these two specifically. Blasting on the Modi government at the centre , the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh stated at the session that Modi government has made the J&K Problem as grave one and rather mishandled it. Present situation of Kashmir was never before . It is very serious .
If highness prevails, the old and experienced leaderships of all these Parties should take the helping hand of AAP and its founder Arvind Kejriwal in having a 1st ALTERNATIVE to BJP before Indian National Congress ( INC ) - the Second Alternative to BJP in the National Politics. At the same time, One can expect a THREE PARTY SYSTEM IN THE COUNTRY which would be fruitful for the Country as a whole . It is in this backdrop, all the political parties other than the BJP and the INC should unite together for making a way for Launching the 'THIRD POLITICAL ALTERNATIVE ' in the Country just on the pattern of the United Kingdom (UK) without wasting any further time. The Central Government led by the National Democratic Alliance(NDA) under the Prime Minister ship of Narender Modi. is going to complete its 4 years in the month of May this year. Through out of its period of power up to this time, NDA government marched ahead dashingly thereby maintaining the edge over the entire opposition ( which is just as a skeleton and divided one ) . NDA has not seen any sort of difficulty in governing the country up to January instant and its popularity graph reached the heights as it captured power in 20 States whereas its main opponent Indian National Congress (INC) enjoying power in 4 States of the country.
Pertinent to mention here that in Lok Sabha Elections -2014, BJP got 149 Lok Sabha seats out of 170 from the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP and MP. In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, it secured 51 Lok Sabha seats out of 51 Lok Sabha seats. It was a miraculous victory indeed . In the recently held elections to the three North Eastern states, it captured power raising its strength to 20 out of twenty nine states as compared to four with INC in the country as a whole. Now the eyes of BJP are on West Bengal, Oorissa and AP but it appears that its chances to win are remote as it doesn't have the base over there . Needless to mention that these days , Shiv Sena leadership is totally annoyed with BJP and will go far away from BJP. At the same time, TDP led by Chander Babu Naidu has severed its ties with NDA last week. Certainly all these events will give the set back to BJP in the days to come . In the recently held 'India Conclave' at New Delhi organized by the Zee Group, the former Chief Minister of UP Akhlesh Yadav stated that Samajwadi Party will try its best to go for forming the GRAND ALLIANCE very soon as an alternative to NDA at the centre . He further stated that efforts are already on in this direction . While praising the recent alliance between his party with BSP he stated that the alliance has yielded the positive results in capturing the 2 Lok Sabha seats of Gorakhpur and Phulpur which were vacated by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Dy. Chief Minister , Mauraya.
Akhlesh Yadav futher assured that the head of the Grand Alliance will be from the major party having the largest number of MPs in the Indian Parliament.
The strengthening of INC is must and at the same time, all the opposition political parties should join their hands together and they should make their all out efforts for the formation of the Grand Alliance without fail.
