| Observing World Abror Day | | Campaign must start from schools | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 21: The department of social forestry has issued an advertisement on the World Abror Day urging the people to plant trees to save the planet earth. " Let us give something back back to earth," the theme of the advertisement reads.
While only a fool can oppose such noble efforts some questions need answers. What has been the role of the department apart from planting plants along the roads? Once planted, the plants are left at the mercy of unscrupolous elements who give a damn to the plant and rob it of the steel cage that the department installs around it for its protection.
Well a plant cannot be left at the mercy of a steel cage. Unless there are people to guard the plants and also the steel cage, nothing tangible shall come out of such efforts. And, the job of the department does not end with issuingan advertisement on the World Abror Day.
If the advertisement has been issued for creating awareeness then it is not needed. Nobody is interested in advertisements if they do not offer jobs. The campaign has to be done in schools. It is in the schools that the the campaign can make a difference. Whatever the child learns in the school goes withhim for the rest of his life. Sothe process has to start here. |
