KVK organises 5 day farmers' training programme on organic farming

Jammu, Mar 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has continued five days long farmers training programmes on organic crops production for the 5th batch of 30 farmers at Organic Training Centre, Talwara in Reasi district of J&K. KVK, Reasi is conducting the five days programme on the organic farming under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor (VC), Dr.P.K.Sharma and Associate Director Extension (ADE) & Incharge KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr.R.K.Arora. The Organic Training Centre, Talwara has been established by SKUAST-J and is sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi under Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana to promote organic farming in Jammu region. In this programme different technical sessions on organic farming are being arranged for the participants.
Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal elaborated scientific organic crops production. He said that modern crop farming has enhanced the crops production but it has caused many problems to the environment and human health.
The scientist stressed on commercial organic farming by which the farmers can generate extra income and employment.
