Sunderbani, Apr 26: The illegal setting up of shops in municipal limits flouting the norms of the Corporation and widening the encroachments has become a common phenomenon in Sunderbani.
Even the Municipal Corporation Sunderbani is silent spectator to these developments as people of the area allege that many officials of the corporation are hand in glove in facilitating the encroachments besides helping the culprits to modify shops as per their convenience.
As per the Corporation rules of all municipal districts of the state , no shop established under the municipal corporation could be altered or modified and not even to be sub let to any other person.
But for Sunderbani tehsil, the area from New Bus Stand, hospital road and Kangari road, the shops and establishments made by the corporation are either modified to suit the requirements of the shop holders or are sublet to other parties against handsome monthly fares.
Besides, the more astonishing development is that immediately on the ground floor, where on its first floor exits the Sunderbani Municipal Corporation office, the shops established by the MC have been modified and two shops have been carved out of one.
Also the encroachments of the these shops extend to 6-7 feet deep inside the road creating a great impediment to the commuters and the vehicle pliers.
The public of the area allege that when Municipal Corporation itself is flouting the norms of the MC shops, what could be expected from the department to maintain a vigil or check on its other shop owners who are encroaching the lands and shops at their free will.
The people also allege that not only people are doing such encroachments at their will only but many of the officials of the department are in connivance with them and supporting their cause.
Though the contact with the district Commissioner Rajouri could not be established, but a senior officer said that such activity will be brought to the notice of the Commissioner.
"We have gone through all the illegal settlements of the encroached shops in entire Sunderbani and have prepared a complete detail which we will submit to the District Commissioner," said District Information Officer, Rajouri. |
