Separatists inert to civilian killings by militants
4/26/2018 11:48:30 PM

Early Times Report
srinagar, Apr 26: In a blatant example of double standards, two civilians have been killed in two days in south Kashmir without a word of condemnation from the separatists. The silence maintained by the separatists has not gone well with netizens who took to social media to expose their double standards.
On Thursday afternoon, a civilian, Shakeeb Shabir was killed during an attack by militants on security forces in south Kashmir' Anantnag district.
Shakeeb Shabir was hit when militants, travelling in a car, fired upon a road opening party comprising police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel.
The incident came a day after a political worker was shot dead in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. However, there was no word from separatists on these killings.
"Was Shakeeb not a Kashmiri? Why are separatists silent," Aijaz Ahmad, wrote on the Face book.
Another Face book user Irshad wrote, "Where are separatist leaders? If a militant kills somebody, is it justifiable."
On this, Abid Bhat replied, "This is sheer double standards by separatists"
Umar Ahmad, wrote, "I am really pained by killing of unarmed civilians. But why nobody is raising questions why were they killed. Grow up, grow up."
On Wednesday a political activist Ghulam Nabi Patel was shot dead at Rajpora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. There was also no condemnation by the separatists. Even the mainstream parties were confused whether to own him.
"Why was Patel killed separatists should ask? Being part of any political party does not allow militants to kill civilians," Umar Wani Tweeted.
Patel had at least, three close-range gunshot wounds on his torso.
The deceased was initially identified as a PDP activist, however the party soon shot an official statement condemning his death and calling him a "Congress activist".
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, in her official condemnation statement, identified him as "a local Congress activist of Pulwama".
Later, Congress party also issued a statement, saying they condemn the killing of "a PDP activist".
"Pained to learn about the brutal murder of an innocent man in Pulwama. Our deepest condolences to his family. Militants must realize that they cannot stop the people of the valley from choosing a better future for themselves," the BJP statement read.
